Welcome to the Otherweb - an unsafe space where we discuss the internet, the media, and the information ecosystem in all its flawed glory. The internet is saturated with low-quality information. Most of what people consume - on social media, in search engines, and even in the news - is the informational equivalent of junk food. We are constantly bombarded with superficial, trivial, and often false information because it generates clicks and views, and publishers have little incentive to optimize for anything other than clicks and views. The result is that many people have the illusion of knowledge, while in reality, their head is often clogged with some clickbait article they read yesterday. This is why we decided to build the Otherweb. And this is why we decided to start this podcast - to speak with the smartest people we can find and figure out, together, what the Otherweb needs to look like. Imagine we had an internet without clickbait, eye catchers, autoplaying videos, paywalls, partisan eco-chambers, or whatever else digital marketers can come up with next? A place where you are the consumer and not the product? Aaron has a BS in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA. He has worked with small businesses and startups where he developed a unique systems perspective on business and family. His work in the academic and business worlds led him to understand how related our families and business dynamics are.
He and his wife have run the largest Irish Dance school in Utah for over 20 years. He has built multiple companies, consulted across multiple industries and helped raise $54 million as the COO of a technology company. He lives in Utah with his wife and four children.

Elias EllusionEmpire is an amateur podcaster, history buff, researcher and analyst who wants to restore conversations on difficult topics on history and politics. We reached to Elias to discuss his views on the state of our political system, and how the media feeds into it.
In this episode, we dove deeply into various political topics and how our two-party system tends to amplify the fringes instead of seeking solutions that both sides might be able to accept.
We covered the media's role in fomenting hatred and division, and how posturing politicians get rewarded with publicity - just as solution-seeking politicians get punished or remain in obscurity.
